8-2

December 21, 2010

Two examples of how to use "the frame" within a video shot are:
1. Including everything you want in a shot such as the entire architecture of a building.
2. Excluding everything you do not want in a shot such as other features of the building that are not specific.

8-1

Heineken Commercial
This is one of my all-time favorites because it is humorous while telling a story line.  It begins with a good dialogue that turns to laughter.  The commercial has a storyline while promoting its product.

Gatorade Revolution
This is probably my all-time favorite commercial because it incorporates sports into a motivational commercial.  I really enjoy this Gatorade ad.  This commercial uses catchy music along with camera shots of people playing in the past in black and white.  The product shots are also pretty cool because they take close-ups of the Gatorade G Series.

Doritos Commercial
This commercial is also one of my favorites because it is very funny.  The little boy has funny dialogue that brings the audience into the ad.  The product is displayed nicely in the shot and is emphasized when a young child makes it a point to the male not to touch his food.  It is a very cute and funny commercial.

Overall, seeing these commercials can help my partner and I greatly when creating a commercial of our own.  We can try and incorporate humor as well as a a catchy jingle.  We should also keep in mind to show the product in the video shot.

7-4, 7-5 and 7-6

December 15th 2010

7-4:
Specific noises added to a sound track.
c) Sound Effects

7-5:
Narration or dialogue recorded independently and then paired with related video.
a) Voiceover

7-6:
Speech by performers on-screen.
b) Dialogue

7-3

12-14-10

Two sound effects found in Chapter 7 are:
1. A honk, hiss and an engine roar in a scene of a phantom bus.
2. A horn, hiss of bus doors opening and then closing.

The first sound effect evokes the emotion of mystery and anxiety.  The audience does not know where the bus is or where the bus is going, but the sounds effects are present.
The second sound effect evokes the emotion of leaving. The audience hears the sound of a bus approaching, picking up passengers, and then departing.  The viewer is left with wonderment.

Do Now 8: 12-13

7-2 Geico Commercial

I think this Geico commercial is pretty good because it is humorous.  There isn't a true story behind it other than the therapist trying to be comical.  Geico information is not really portrayed in the commercial other than the title at the end of the slide.

Some components that make up this commercial are humor, exageration and questioning contained in the beginning of the commercial.

7-1:
Narration can deliver information efficiently because it is clear and understandable.  Also, a piece of information can easily be explained as opposed to looking at a picture.

4-0
This video that tells of information of the increase in technology over the years is very moving.  I can't believe how much the American person relies on the internet they can hold in their hands for mostly everything in their life.  It's amazing to me that technology has surpassed classic printed papers so quickly, and will continue to take over the country as well as the world.  It is almost scary to think that technology is growing increasingly and that many ways we have vied the news or learned information will become obsolete.

What does it mean to be taken over my technology?  Many people may have different answers, but for my future I know that it will be more efficient despite the loss of previous ways of communication.  I enjoyed the video because it puts into perspective the amazingly increasing use of technology.

"So what used to fit in a building,
now fits your pocket,
What fits in your pocket now,
will fit inside a blood cell in 25 years."
